Sitting here flabbergasted at what I’ve been seeing on television, I’ve been contemplating the different viewpoints of this alleged killing of Osama Bin Laden. Whether you believe it or not, I’d still like to approach the different scenarios of why Obama announced it when he did. I have been a democrat for years now, but over the past couple years have considered myself an independent, bi-partisan kind of civilian. I listen to all of the issues as they come…..the ironic part is, it’s usually the left that ends up catching my reasonable, tolerable attention. I’m left-handed, so is it because I have a deep inner bias for all things on the Louie? Or perhaps I allow my brain to invite new ideas and have the capacity for abstract thought that ultimately allow our country to advance with the rest of the world? (Please refer to the Merriam-Webster definition of “insanity”). “It’s the way things have always been, therefore we should continue in those ways”. Hell, Tevye saw the positive aspect of changing tradition, so why can’t the GOP? But I digress…..
The following are a few of the statements made by the public, both ‘democrat’ and ‘republican’, on the timing of Obama’s announcement of the killing of Osama Bin Laden; I will express my opinion on why he did this. You must at least be curious; otherwise you would be playing Farmville or telling me I can find out who’s stalking me at this very moment. So onward we go!
Scenario 1: Election Season
There are those that believe that he timed this mission, ultimately the result, during the up rise of the season for his re-election. Being someone who voted for Obama, I don’t blame him! You can’t deny the fact that, without a doubt, this was timed very well. While I don‘t think this was the sole intent, it certainly doesn’t hurt. Amid the talks of our struggling economy and the ‘birthers’ doubting his citizenship, this casts a light back on him and his administration. Unfortunately, with both parties having different views (big surprise), Obama will never be able to please both sides, despite great attempts (Obama meeting the Republicans wants in Economic agreement). In the eyes of nay-sayers, this characterized him as ‘weak in his decisions’. However, finding and killing Osama Bin Laden does not imply to me that he has weakness when it comes to the safety and wellbeing of the United States. Quite the contrary. Conclusion – he has regained his status as a “strong, fearless leader”.
Scenario 2: Finishing What W Started.
What George W. Bush started was to never be finished. His running mate in 2000, Dick Cheney, had NO political experience. He was and is the CEO of Halliburton, a company that makes weapons, and obviously only thrives and profits when our country is at some type of war. In the search for “Bin Laden”, George W. Bush had no intentions of finding someone who was a CIA operative and who’s family was in the United States at the time of 9/11 and then transported from the US the day after our “foreign attack”. Luckily for Dick, this war will now never end. Finding and killing Bin Laden does not end this war, although it does mean that all killed during his ‘search’, their deaths are no longer in vain. The US just killed W’s patsy, and found a way to keep their profits continuing. Conclusion-They win, we lose. (Get it?)
Scenario 3: Gas Prices Should Go Down Now
This war was never about oil. Our major oil sources come from Mexico and Canada. The war in the Middle East was used as an excuse to increase prices in gas, therefore fueling the inflation that has been bloating our entire country, and forcing hard-working people out of their homes that they have had for decades! We may WANT their oil, but we won’t get it! Read above, you’ll figure out why we have lost many American lives. Conclusion – Maybe the North American Union and a common currency ISN’T such a bad idea….
Scenario 4: Obama Has Caused Al Qaeda Retaliation On US
DUH! Do you REALLY think that because it was Obama that got him killed that it would be any different if it were Sarah Palin? Wait….a woman killed a Muslim? Oh My FRIGGING Gods! We’re gonna show her what the force of 72 virgins feels like! (Unfortunately, Bristol Palin was not available for comment on her non-involvement). It doesn’t matter who got this accomplished, there of course will be retaliation anticipated. A pastor burned the Quran in FL and people were killed, you think it matters ‘who dun it’ when it’s ‘dun’ on their turf? John McCain could have told someone to attack, yet he wouldn’t be able to figure out how to turn on the TV to see the result. Good to know that we have a President who has the capacity to make a decision for himself, which is actually EVERY American, and not take advice from greedy war profiteers that tell him he can avenge Daddy’s bullies. Conclusion – Jump the line and join the Union (after all we are the UNITED States of America).
In conclusion, it’s funny to me how the Democrats state that President Obama made a daring gamble to make the approach and attack where he did…..being in sales I can tell you ‘the higher the risk, the higher the return’. Yet the Republicans state that Obama had nothing to do with this, yet he has the final say in our military operatives…..I think he had SOMETHING to do with the US military choices, eh? What ‘President’ George W Bush was doing obviously wasn’t working. The Grand Ole Party believes in keeping things traditional…..”it’s how it’s always been”. In case you didn’t refer to the dictionary at the beginning of this, the definition of insanity is, “The process of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. If everyone in this country understood this, they would have no reason to fear change, or close their minds to new ideas that would ultimately help our country to thrive and prosper. Obama’s ultimate decision to attack got the job done that ‘we were there to do’. For the Republicans to disagree, or to oppose, or to make excuses as to how someone other than themselves accomplished something to help this country sickens me. Our president has done all he can for the ‘greater good’ of the US, and until we can meet in the middle, there is no such thing.
